WAVERLY — Waverly wrapped up its second perfect regular season in a row with a 69-39 win over Windsor here Thursday night in STAC junior varsity boys basketball action.
The Wolverines finish the regular season at 16-2, including a 12-0 record in league play for the second year in a row.
Waverly will host either Maine-Endwell or Binghamton Thursday in the STAC semifinals. The winner will play Ithaca for the overall STAC title.
Jack Pipher pumped in eight points in the first quarter, while Eric Lewis scored six points, and Collin Wheeler added a 3-pointer in a 19-13 game-opening run for the Wolverines.
Braiden Judson scored nine points, including a 3-pointer, in the second quarter, and Pipher added five points, including an old-fashion three-point play, to fuel a 21-11 run that pushed the Waverly advantage to 40-24 at the half.
Pipher tossed in eight more points in the third quarter, while Judson scored six points, and Murry added four in a 24-11 blitz that gave the Wolverines a 64-35 lead heading into the final stanza.
Pipher led Waverly with 21 points, four assists, and four steals, while Judson had 17 points and seven rebounds, and Collin Wheeler had 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, five boards, and three steals.
Murray had six points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals, while Lewis scored six points, and Chase Wheeler added five points, two steals, and two assists.
Rylen Larson hauled down nine rebounds and blocked one shot for the Wolverines, while Drew Croft grabbed seven boards and had two steals, Sammy Cheresnowsky dished out four assists, and Brody Lambert chipped in with three steals.
