BINGHAMTON — Juniors Troy Beeman and Cooper Robinson and freshman Drayton DeKay are top seeds at Sunday's Section IV, Division 2 Wrestling Championships, and will lead seven Waverly wrestlers into action here at the Broome County Arena.
The top three in each weight class advances to the New York State Championships Feb. 28 and March 1 at the MVP Arena in Albany.
Sophomore Rhylee Stotler is a second seed for the Wolverines, and 8th-grader Avery Bowman is a third seed, while sophomores Parker Larson and Joey Mack will also be in action.
Robinson (33-5) is the top seed at 152 pounds. He will face the winner of the opening-round match between 8th-seeded Gabriel Crumb (19-12) of Marathon and 9th-seeded Jace Schiller (24-10) of Edison in the quarterfinals.
Beeman (31-3) is the top seed at 285 pounds. He will face the winner of the opening-round match between 8th-seeded Eli Daggy (22-13) of Oneonta and 9th-seeded Gus Miller (16-16) of Walton-Delhi in the quarterfinals.
DeKay (28-4) is the top seed at 116 pounds. He will face the winner of the opening-round match between 8th-seeded Cooper Axtell (19-17) of Windsor and ninth-seeded Jadyn Carpenter (13-15) of Norwich in the quarterfinals.
Stotler (33-5) is the second seed at 116 pounds. He will face the winner of the opening-round match between 7th-seeded Travis White (24-13) of Chenango Valley and 10th-seeded T.J. Hurba of Maine-Endwell (16-17) in the quarterfinals.
Bowman (27-9) is the third seed at 108 pounds. He will face the winner of the opening-round match between 6th-seeded Dom Diluzio of Windsor (16-8) and 11th-seeded Camryn Rosenbarker (8-17) of Chenango Valley in the quarterfinals.
Larson (20-17) is the ninth seed at 160 pounds, and will square off with Whitney Point's Jonathan McCall (24-8) in the opening round.
Sophomore Joey Mack (16-14) is the 11th seed at 138 pounds, and will take on 6th-seeded Ahmet Zaggout (34-12) of Unatego-Unadilla Valley-Franklin in the opening round.
Action begins at 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
