THE VALLEY — Athens kicks off the 2025 season on the diamonds at home against NTL Large School rivals Troy Thursday afternoon.

BASEBALL
Troy (16-5) at Athens (8-12), 4:30 p.m.: The Wildcats are coming off an 8-12 season, but return a ton of sophomores and juniors, while the defending division champion Trojans were 16-5 last season.

Last year, Athens dropped a 4-2 decision in the season-opener at Troy. About a month later, Troy completed the season sweep with a 5-1 win at Athens.

SOFTBALL
Troy (16-5) at Athens (13-8), 4:30 p.m.: The Wildcats are coming off a 13-8 season that saw them finish in third place in the Large School Division, one spot behind the Trojans, who finished at 16-5.

Athens dropped a 4-2 decision at Troy in the season-opener last year, and dropped a 4-3 decision a month later at home.
