Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY — Spring season picks up this week as a couple Waverly teams open their seasons, and the track & field season begins in Pa.
There are 17 events on this week's slate, including six on Tuesday. Seven of the 17 involve Athens teams.
The following are all of the home varsity events this week, and a few of the notable road events:
MONDAY (2)
• Athens baseball opens the season at home against defending division champ Troy.
• Athens softball hosts Troy.
TUESDAY (6)
• The Sayre track team opens 2025 competition at Troy this afternoon in a tri-meet that also includes NEB.
• The Athens track teams open the season in a dual at Wyalusing.
• Sayre baseball and softball hosts Small School rival Williamson.
• Athens baseball and softball are on the road at Large School rival Wellsboro.
WEDNESDAY (2)
• The Waverly girls golf team opens the 2025 season "on the road" against S-VE at Shepard Hills, which is the Panthers' home course.
• Waverly's flag football team opens the 2025 season on the road at Norwich.
THURSDAY (3)
• Athens baseball and softball are on the road at Wyalusing.
• Sayre softball travels to NEB to play the Panthers for the second time in five days.
FRIDAY (1)
• The Waverly flag football team plays at Windsor.
SATURDAY (3)
• Waverly softball opens its 2025 season at home against non-league foie Addison.
• Sayre baseball is on the road at Millville.
• Sayre softball is on the road at Wellsboro.
