
THE VALLEY — Athens sophomore Brayden Pettitt earned a medal at the PIAA Swimming & Diving Championships, and his classmate Gretchan Hiley pitched a gem in the Wildcats' season-opening win. They are the Valley Sports Report / Bishop Brothers Construction "Athletes of the Week."

ATHENS' PETTITT NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION BOYS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
Pettitt medaled with an eighth-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 59.18 seconds. In the prelims, he broke his own school record with a time of 58.57 seconds.
He finished 17th in the 200-yard IM.
Pettitt also swam on a pair of relays at States that finished 11th and 17th.

ATHENS' HILEY NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION GIRLS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
Hiley pitched a two-hit gem to lead Athens to a 2-0 win over Troy in its season-opener Saturday.
She struck out 18 in seven innings. She struck out the side three times in the game, and fanned five batters in a row twice.
Hiley also doubled, scored one run, and drove in one run.
