Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY — The Sayre and Athens track teams open the 2025 season, while Sayre baseball and softball play the only home games Tuesday.
BASEBALL
Athens (1-0 overall, 1-0 NTL Large) at Wellsboro (0-3, 0-2), 4:30 p.m.: The Wildcats are coming off a season-opening, 14-4, win over Troy Monday, while the Hornets dropped a 17-2 decision to Hughesville.
Last year, the two teams split a doubleheader. Wellsboro won the first game 5-4, and Athens won the nightcap, 5-4.
Williamson (0-0, 0-0 NTL Small: at Sayre (0-1, 0-1), 4:30 p.m.: The Redskins are coming off a season-opening, 8-7, loss to Canton last Tuesday.
Last year, Sayre won at Williamson, 16-2, then won later in the season at home, 15-4.
SOFTBALL
Athens (2-0, 2-0 NTL Large) at Wellsboro (0-2, 0-2), 4:30 p.m.: The Wildcats are coming off a 5-3 win over Troy Monday, while the Hornets dropped a 13-2 decision at Troy Friday.
Last year, Athens swept a doubleheader from Wellsboro by scores of 18-0 and 15-0.
Williamson (2-0, 1-0 NTL Small) at Sayre (1-1, 1-1), 4:30 p.m.: The Lady Redskins are coming off a 22-3 loss to Northeast Bradford Saturday, while the Warriors topped Northern Potter, 16-2, Saturday.
Last year, Sayre lost 18-0 at Williamson, and 17-4 at home.
