Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY — Sayre baseball and softball are at home against Cowanesque Valley in the only games in the Valley, while Athens is on the road at North Penn-Liberty in an early-season battle of unbeaten softball teams.
BASEBALL
Cowanesque Valley (3-0) at Sayre (0-4), 3:30 p.m.: The Redskins are coming off a 16-1 three-inning loss to Loyalsock, while the Indians topped Williamson, 12-2.
Last year, Sayre won the first meeting at home, 8-7 in eight innings, but CV answered with a 17-1 at home late in the season.
SOFTBALL
Cowanesque Valley (2-1) at Sayre (1-4), 3:30 p.m.: The Redskins are coming off an 8-3 loss to Wellsboro Saturday, while the Indians edges Williamson, 1-0.
Last year, CV won the first meeting at home, 16-0, and finished off the season sweep at Sayre with a 7-0 win.
Athens (4-0) at NP-Liberty (5-0), 4:30 p.m.: The Wildcats rolled over Wyalusing, 18-4, Friday, while the Mountaineers edged Troy, 3-2.
Last year, Athens dropped a 5-0 decision at home to NP-L in their first meeting. NP-L completed the season sweep at home with a 1-0 win.
