NEWARK VALLEY — Eighth-grader Kate Kithcart fired a 1-hitter in her first varsity start, and Tioga hit three consecutive home runs in the first inning of a 15-0 win over Newark Valley here Monday afternoon in IAC Large School softball action.
Kithcart fanned 10 and walked one in a five-inning complete-game effort.
Junior RaeAnne Feeko belted an 0-2 pitch over the left-field fence in the top of the first to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
Two pitches later, senior Erin Luther cranked a pitch over the center-field fence to make it 2-0.
Senior McKenzie Williams made it 3-0 four pitches later with a drive over the left-field fence.
Eighth-grader Irie Lynch hit a two-run, two-out single to extend the lead to 5-0 after one-half inning.
Tioga added three runs in the the second inning, and six more in the third to make it 14-0. The Tigers tacked on another run in the top of the fifth inning.
Feeko had three hits, including a home run, two runs scored, and three RBI, while Kithcart had three hits, including a triple and a double, one run scored and two RBI, and Lynch singled three times, scored one run, and drove in two runs to pace Tioga's 17-hit attack.
Sophomore Jade Keaty had two hits, two runs scored, and one RBI in the win, while Williams homered and singled, scored one run, and had two RBI, Luther homered, scored two runs, and knocked in two runs, and junior Lilly Mezzatesta tripled, scored two runs, and drove in two runs.
Raegan Foley singled, scored one run, and drove in one run for Tioga, while junior Emily Shiner singled and scored one run, and 8th-grader Bri Lounsbury scored two runs.
Tioga returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Newfield.
