
State medalists and record-breakers headline The Sports Reports 2024-25 All-Region Boys and Girls Swimming and Diving all-star teams.
Athens sophomore Brayden Pettitt leads the swimmers as the "Boys Swimmer of the Year," while Brenden Jardin-Reed of Corning is the "Boys Diver of the Year," and Keith Huff of Corning is "Boys Newcomer of the Year."
And, Athens' 200-yard medley relay was the "Boys Relay of the Year."
Waverly junior Mira Kittle is the "Girls Swimmer of the Year," while Kaelyn Katchuk of Owego is "Girls Diver of the Year," and Alexys Nale of Corning is "Girls Newcomer of the Year."
And, Waverly's 200-yard freestyle relay was the "Girls Relay of the Year."
Pettitt finished eighth at states in the 100 breaststroke in 59.18 seconds, after swimming a school-record 58.57 in the prelims. He was the first Athens state medalist since 2014.
He was second in the 200 IM at districts in a school-record time of 1:59.17. He took 17th at states in the event.
Jardin-Reed was a state medalist and is a Section IV record-holder in the six-dive (378.55 points) and 11-dive (655.80).
Huff was a STAC divisional all-star. He was fifth in sectionals in the 200 free (1:57.44) and third in the 500 free (5:21.79). and swam a 53.04 in the 100 free.
Pettitt teamed with sophomores Eli Hicks, and seniors Ethan Hicks and Ryan Gorman to win District 4 gold in the 200-yard medley relay. The foursome finished 11th at the PIAA, Class AA Championships in a time of 1:40.69.
Kittle qualified for States in the 50 free, 100 fly, 100 back and the 200 medley relay. She won the 50 free and 100 back at Class B sectionals, setting a school record in the backstroke in 56.79 seconds. She was 11th in the 100 back at states in 58.43 seconds.
Kittle had the fastest see time going into states in the 50 free, but was disqualified in the prelims. She helped the 200 medley relay for Waverly earn a state medal with an eighth-place finish in a school-record time of 1:51.07.
Katchuk is a state medalist and a Division I commit to Boston University. It was a third straight state medal for Katchuk. She is a five-time Class B champion and holds the section IV records in both the six and 11 dives.
Nale is a STAC all-star and sectional champion in Class A in the 100 breaststroke. She was also a third-place finisher in the 50 free at sectionals.
Kittle teamed with junior Olivia Cheresnowsky, freshman Lauryn Welles and 8th-grader Megan Atanasoff to win Section IV, Class B gold in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The foursome finished fifth at the New York State Championships with a school-record time of 1:37.93, nearly a second faster than their prelim time of 1:38.61.

Joey Crisco, Corning: State qualifier in multiple events. Had top times of 22.57 in the 50 free, 50.01 in the 100 free, 59.91 in the 100 breaststroke and 1:59.85 in the 200 IM. Had state cuts in the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM and also made states in thhe 200 free and 200 medley relays. STAC all-star.
Brenick Lain, Towanda diving: A state qualifier in Pennsylvania with a score of 308 for six dives.
Ethan Hicks, Athens: Hicks finished second in the 100-yard freestyle in 50.19 seconds at the District 4 Championships, which earned him a wild card to the PIAA Championships. He was 28th at States.
Ethan Hicks also swam on all three District 4 relays that won gold. At
States, his split in the 400-yard freestyle relay set a school-record in
the 100 free.

J.P. Sierzant, Corning: Had a top time of 22.54 in the 50 free and 49.30 in the 100 free, just off a state cut time. Was a state qualifier in the 200 free and 200 medley relays. STAC all-star.
Shawn De Pedro, Corning: Had a top time of 1:01.58 in the 100 breaststroke and 56.93 in the 100 fly. Was a state qualifier in the 200 medley relay. STAC all-star.
Mark Hong, Corning: Had a top time of 23.59 in the 50 free and 52.50 in the 100 free and was a state qualifier in the 200 free relay. STAC division all-star.
Thai Tran, Horseheads: Had a 1:01.92 in the 100 breaststroke and a 2:05 in the 200 IM. STAC all-star.

Matthew Robbins, Wellsboro: Third in the 50 free (24.12) and the 100 free (52.25) at the District 4 Championships.
Liam Gill, Corning: Had a top time of 23.59 in the 50 free and 52.50 in the 100 free.
John McKane, Corning: Had a top time of 59.13 in the 100 fly and 57.75 in the 100 back. STAC division all-star.
Derek Gun, Corning: Had a top time of 2:14.25 in the 200 IM and 1:08.08 in the 100 breaststroke. STAC division all-star.

Lauryn Welles, Waverly: Welles won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 55.83 seconds, and placed fourth in the 100 free at sectionals. She also swam on 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard medley relays that won Section IV, Class B gold.
At States, Welles swam on both relays that won State medals.
Megan Atanasoff, Waverly: Atanasoff placed second in the 50-yard freestyle in 24.99 second at the Class B Championships, and was third in 100 free in 57.0 seconds.
She also swam on the 200 and 400 free relays that won Class B gold, and on the 200 free relay that won a state medal.
Olivia Cheresnowsky, Waverly: Cheresnowsky placed second at the Class B Championships in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 56.79 seconds.
She swam on 200 free and 200 medley relays that won Section IV gold, and the two Wolverine relays that won State hardware.

Cella McLaughlin, Corning: State qualifier in diving, a STAC division all-star.
Gabby Janeski, Horseheads: A state qualifier in the 200 medley and 200 free relays. A STAC division all-star. A fourth-place finisher at sectionals in the 100 fly. Fourth place finisher in the 100 breaststroke.
Karina LaPierre, Horseheads: A state qualifier in the 200 medley relay. A STA all-star. Third in the 500 free at sectionals in 5:45.46.
Sophia Lee, Owego: Second in the 50 free (25.64) and the 100 back (1:03.48) at Class B sectionals. Also on two third-place relays at sectionals.
Ava Murphy, Owego: Second in the 100 fly (1:02.37) and the 200 IM (2:29.2) in Class B sectionals. Also on a third-place relay at sectionals.
Evelyn Panek, Athens: Panek placed second at the District 4 Championships in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.73 seconds. She was third in the 100 free in a school-record time of 56.57 seconds.
Panek also swam on relay teams that placed third and fourth in school-record times at the District 4 Championships.
Audrey Kellogg, Waverly: Kellogg was second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 56.7 seconds at the Class B Championships, and was sixth in the 200-yard IM.
She also swam on the 200 and 400 free relays that won Class B gold, with the 200 free winning a State medal
Kayla Bolt, Athens: Second at District 4 Championships with an 11-dive total of 285.5 to make states in just her third varsity meet.
Ali Mosher, Horseheads: A STAC all-star. A fourth-place finisher at the 200 IM at sectionals. Runner-up at sectionals in the 100 back.
