SAYRE — Senior Raegan Parrish tossed a three-inning no-hitter, and Sayre erupted for 14 runs in the second inning of a 16-0 three-inning win over Millville to snap a six-game losing skein in NTL softball here Thursday afternoon at Riverfront Park.
"Reagan (Parrish) pitched a great game — her first shutout, and no-hitter," said Sayre coach Matt Senese. "And, it was our first game with no errors.
"Our girls also made solid contact at the plate today," added Senese.
Parrish fanned five and walked no one in three innings. The only batter to reach base was hit by a pitch.
Raegan Parrish provided all the runs she would need in the home half of the first inning with a two-run double to plate junior Olivia Thompson, who led off with a single, and freshman McKenna Parrish, who was hit by a pitch.
In the bottom of the second, McKenna Parrish rapped a pair of singles and had four RBI, Raegan Parrish tripled and singled, and drove in two runs, senior Emily Chilson singled twice and drove in two runs, and junior Mikyah Brown singled and had three RBI.
Raegan Parrish was 3-for-3 with a triple and a double, two runs scored, and four RBI, McKenna Parrish singled twice, scored three runs, and had four RBI, Chilson singled twice, scored one run, and drove in two runs, and Thompson doubled and singled, scored three runs, and knocked in one run.
Brown singled, scored one run, and had three RBI for the Redskins, while senior Abbie McGaughey tripled, scored two runs, and drove in one run, Kayleigh Winiavski scored two runs and knocked in one run, and Paige Secrist and Mercedez Haggerty each crossed the plate once.
Sayre, now 2-6, hosts Canton Tuesday.
