STAC TENNIS: KELLOGG NOTCHES FIRST VARSITY WIN; WAVERLY FALLS TO CV, 5-2 (2025-04-24)

WAVERLY — Senior Zach Moran and junior Nate McEwen continued their winning ways in doubles play, and junior Nate Kellogg registered his first varsity win, but Chenango Valley won a pair of close matches in a 5-2 win here Thursday afternoon in STAC tennis action.

McEwen and Moran recorded their fifth win of the season with a 6-1, 6-1 win over CV's Sawyer Jackson and Ethan Randall in first doubles action.

The Warriors won the other two doubles matches.

Ethan Benninger and Cadden Burns pulled out a 7-6 decision in the first set of their second doubles match against Waverly freshman Kam Sorenson and Rylie Witman, winning the tiebreaker, 8-6. They finished the straight sets win with a 6-2 decision in the second set.

In the third set, CV's Anthony Bean and Hudson Tanner won a 7-5 decision in the first set over freshmen Scott Muster and Jaiden Helinzelman, then won a quick 6-0 decision in the second set.

Kellogg put on a dominant performance in the fourth singles match, beating Jack Stiles in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-1.

Chenango Valley won the first, second and third singles matches in straight sets.

Waverly, now 2-6, returns to action Monday at Chenango Forks.
