Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY — Sayre hosts crosstown rival Athens on the baseball diamond at Riverfront Park this afternoon in their second meeting of the season, while the Athens, Sayre, and Waverly track teams will compete at the annual Lasagna Invite.
BASEBALL
Athens (9-2) at Sayre (0-10), 4:30 p.m.: The Wildcats are coming off an 8-4 loss to Troy Thursday, while the Redskins dropped a 13-5 decision to Canton Tuesday.
Three weeks ago, Athens topped Sayre, 8-1, at home.
Waverly (7-3) at Chenango Forks (2-5), 5 p.m.: The Wolverines won the first two games of the three-game series this week — 15-4 at Forks Monday, and 13-11 at home Wednesday.
TRACK & FIELD
Athens, Waverly, Sayre at Lasagna Invite, 4 p.m. @ Wyalusing H.S.: Sayre seniors Marco Quiros and Rose Shikanga, Athens senior Sara Bronson, and junior Abby Burgess, and Waverly juniors Haley Larrabee and Troy Beeman will lead their respective teams into action this afternoon at the annual event in Wyalusing.
GIRLS GOLF
Waverly (4-1), Notre Dame at Horseheads, 4 p.m. @ Soaring Eagles: The Wolverines already have a win over Notre Dame this season, and will also face perennial power Horseheads for the first time.
