STAC TRACK & FIELD: PAIR OF LADY WOLVERINE RELAYS WIN GOLD AT LEAGUE MEET (18 PHOTOS) (2025-05-21)

VESTAL — Two relays earned gold medals to lead the Waverly girls to a fifth-place finish here on a rainy Wednesday at the STAC Track & Field Championships.

Corning ran away with team title with 114 points, while Oneonta was second with 67.5 points, Ithaca was third with 44.75 points, Chenango Valley was fourth with 42 points, and Waverly tallied 38 points.

Senior Harper Minaker, junior Mackenzie Chamberlain, and sophomores Makenzie Olmsted and Ryleigh Judson teamed to win the 3,200-meter relay in a time of 10:27.01.

Freshman Kaylin Twedt, juniors Haley Larrabee and Kaitlyn Sutton, and sophomore Judson teamed to win the 1,600-meter relay in a time of 4:13.9.

The same foursome place third in the 400-meter relay in a time of 52.62 seconds.

Twedt placed second in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.74, and Larrabee was seventh in 1:05.4.

Freshman Gianna Soprano finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:12.6, and 8th-grader Brynna Twedt was 13th in 1:22.79.

Sophomore Taylor Sinsabaugh finished ninth in the 3,000-meter run in a time of 13:43.2.

Mackenzie Olmsted finished 12th in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 5:31.18, and freshman Lilliana Boothby was 21st in 6:02.02.

Sutton was 13th in the triple jump with a mark of 27-feet, 11 1/2-inches

Brynna Twedt finished 15th in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 20.37 seconds, and Soprano was 18th in 21.19 seconds.

Freshman Tressa Allen finished 17th in the 100-meter dash in a time of 14.57 seconds.

Freshman Kendall Rockwell finished 17th in the shot put with a heave of 23-feet, 10 1/4-inches. She was 20th in the discus with a toss of 53-feet, 7-inches.

Freshman Miah Correll was 23rd in the 800-meter run in 3:02.47.

BOYS
The Waverly boys did not have an athlete reach the podium Wednesday. Senior Riley Pipher and freshmen Jaxon Chandler and Drayton DeKay had the best performances of the day for the Wolverines.

Pipher finished eighth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:04.12.

Chandler was eighth in the high jump at 5-feet, 3-inches. He also finished ninth in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 18.14 seconds.

DeKay finished eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 37-feet, 4 1/2-inches

DeKay teamed with seniors Seth Noto and Payton Fravel, and junior Andrew Larrabee to finish ninth in the 400-meter relay in a time of 46.53 seconds.

Pipher, DeKay, Chandler, and junior Hayden Howe finished ninth in the 1,600-meter relay in a time of 3:47.43.

Pipher, Howe, sophomore Jayden Washington, and freshman Hayden Montanye teamed to finish 10th in the 3,200-meter relay in a time of 9:22.94.

Noto finished 11th in the 100-meter dash in 12.15 seconds, and junior Brance VanDyke was 15th in 12.49 seconds.

Freshman Connor Bentley finished 11th in the long jump at 17-feet, 9-inches, and Noto was 17th at 16-feet, 11-inches.

Larrabee finished 12th in the 200-meter dash in 25.33 seconds, and Bentley was 14th in 25.72 seconds.

Junior Troy Beeman finished ninth in the shot put with a heave of 40-feet, and senior Payton Fravel was 20th at 35-feet.

Beeman was 12th in the discus with a toss of 108-feet, 5-inches, and freshman Jase Fravel was 15th at 97-feet, 5-inches.

Sophomore Chase Hine finished 15th in the 1,600-meter run in a time of 4:58.48, and Montanye was 21st in 5:01.72.

Washington finished 20th in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:15.77, and Howe was 22nd in 2:16.39.

Waverly returns to action May 29 at the Section IV, Class B Championships at Oneonta.
