
THE VALLEY — It's a busy day of postseason action and it's win-or-go-home for the Waverly and Tioga softball, and Waverly baseball teams, as well as the Tioga boys golf teams.
NOTE: The Waverly baseball game was re-scheduled from Wednesday to avoid potential bad weather.
SOFTBALL
Section IV Playoffs
Class B Quarterfinals
5-Oneonta (9-9) at 4-Waverly (9-9), 4:30 p.m.: The Wolverines closed out the regular season with an 11-6 win over Owego, while the Yellowjackets edged Bainbridge-Guilford, 4-3.
The winner will square off with the winner of the game between top-seeded Susquehanna Valley (13-2) and Whitney Point (8-7) Thursday.
Class C Quarterfinals
11-Southern Cayuga (10-7) at 3-Tioga (13-3), 4:30 p.m.: The Tigers are coming off a 20-0 five-inning rout of Marathon in the opening round of the C playoffs, while the Chiefs upended sixth-seeded Notre Dame, 9-4.
The winner will face the winner of the game between second-seeded Union Springs (17-0) and seventh-seeded Seton Catholic (5-8).
BASEBALL
Section IV Playoffs
Class B Semifinals
4-Waverly (11-8) at 1-Oneonta (17-3), 4:30 p.m.: The Wolverines snapped a five-game losing skid with a 10-0 win over Thomas A. Edison in the quarterfinals, while the Yellowjackets rolled to a 15-2 win over Schuyler.
The winner advances to the Class B Championship game at Mirabito Stadium Saturday at 1 p.m., and will face the winner of the seventh-seeded Susquehanna Valley (10-9) and third-seeded Lansing (14-5).
BOYS GOLF
Tioga at Class D Championships @ Maple Hills GC, Marathon: Senior James Luther leads the Tigers into the Class D tournament, a year after the Tigers won the Class C title.
