ON TAP TODAY: WAVERLY, TIOGA EACH BOAST TWO TOP-SEEDS AT TWO-DAY SECTION IV STATE QUALIFIER (2025-06-04)

Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY — The two-day Section IV Track & Field State Qualifier gets under way this evening at Union-Endicott High School with Waverly and Tioga each boasting two top seeds.

Waverly has a pair of relays in the top spot, with freshmen Kaylin Twedt and Gianna Soprano the top individual seeds, while Tioga junior Gavin Albrecht and senior Andrew Earley, who also has a 2-seed, are top seeds. Freshman Vida Rossi leads the Tioga girls with a 2-seed.

There's a new look this season at States (and likewise the State Qualifier) with three divisions, instead of two, sending athletes to States. Waverly and Tioga are both in Division C — the smallest division.

To qualify for States, competitors must be the top finisher in their event for their division. Or finish second and hit the state standard.

Competitors could also hit the state "super standard" at any point this season and would automatically qualify for the State meet. Albrecht topped the "super standard" earlier this season in the pole vault and has already qualified for a trip to States at Middletown High School.

The following are the seeds in their class, broken down by school and gender:
