SCHOLASTIC WRESTLING: PA. ALL-STARS OVERCOME EARLY DEFICIT IN 45-23 WIN OVER NEW YORK AT SECOND ANNUAL 'DUALS ON DESMOND ALL-STAR WRESLTING SHOWCASE' (2025-06-08)

Valley Sports Report
SAYRE — Beautiful weather and a large crowd greeted some of the best wrestlers from both sides of the border here Saturday night for the second annual "Duals on Desmond Wrestling Showcase."

In the marquee match on the boys side, three-time PIAA state qualifier and recent Hughesville grad Chase Shaner topped Tioga's Jayden Duncanson, a four-time place-winner in N.Y., 4-1, to help the Pa. All-Stars to a 45-23 win over New York.

New York jumped out to a quick 15-0 lead on three technical falls, including one by Newark Valley grad Trevor Middendorf, but the Pa. team stormed back with five straight wins to take an 18-15 lead.

Horseheads' Hunter Lavigne won a major decision to give N.Y. a 19-18 lead, but the Pa. won the next seven bouts.

A trio of Valley wrestlers earned win during that span with Athens' Treyton Barrett topping Waverly's Drayton DeKay, 6-2, Athens' Karson Sipley scoring a fall, and Sayre' Jordan Brown winning an 8-4 decision.

The following is a full run-down of all of Saturday's action on Desmond Street.
