
THE VALLEY — Tioga senior Andrew Earley, and juniors Gavin Albrecht and Dominic Palmer broke school records to punch their tickets to the New York State Track & Field Championships, while freshman Vida Rossi missed out on a trip to States by a matter of inches. They are the Valley Sports Report / Bishop Brothers Construction "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending June 7.

Earley and Albrecht broke their own school records on Day of the Section IV Championships to earn their trips to Middletown, while Palmer finished second but hit the state standard on Day 2.
Albrecht, who had already qualified for States by clearing 14-feet, 7-inches in the pole vault, eclipsing the state standard of 14-feet, 6-inches, earlier this season.
Albrecht won Section IV gold by clearing 14-feet, 9-inches.
Earley also lowered his school record in the 400-meter hurdles, winning the event in 57.4 seconds.
Earley was on the Tioga 1,600-meter relay team that finished second, after Chenango Forks, which was originally disqualified, won its appeal.
Earley also finished finished third in the 110-meter hurdles, and eight in the triple jump.
Palmer finished second in the pentathlon with a school-record 2,944 points, eclipsing the state standard by 43 points.
Palmer was second in the 110-meter hurdles and the shot put, third in the high jump and long jump, and sixth in the 1,500-meter run.

Rossi, who has been battling a leg injury the last few weeks, finished second in the with a mark of 16-feet, 6 3/4-inches — 3 1/4-inches off the winning jump.
Rossi jumped a school-record 17-feet, 3-inches in the meet prior to her injury.
