
NEW MILFORD — Athens used an eight-run fourth-inning outburst to erase a five-run deficit en route to a 13-6 win over Blue Ridge in the quarterfinals of the District 15 Little League Minors Division baseball playoffs.
Blue Ridge scored a run in the bottom of the first to take an early 1-0 lead, then scored five times in the second inning to take a 6-1 lead.
In the fourth inning, Hudson Glielmi and Colson Bishop stroked RBI singles, and Athens took advantage of four base on balls, three errors and several wild pitches and passed balls to rally to take a 9-6 lead.
Bishop, who came on in relief in the second inning, and Giovanni Sharpe combined to shut out Blue Ridge over the final four innings.
Athens added four runs without a hit in the sixth inning to provide the final margin.
Glielmi and Bishop each singled, scored one run, and drove in one run, while Colton Ecker singled and scored one run to pace Athens' four-hit attack, and Briley Owens added a single to account for Athens' four hits.
Sharpe scored three runs in the win for Athens, while Calvin Mosher and Daniel Bowman each scored two runs, Jase Blair crossed the plate once.
Athens returns to action Wednesday at RTL in the semifinals.
