Valley Sports ReportATHENS — Athens jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, but Southern Tioga-Breon rallied for a 10-4 win to capture the District 15 Little League baseball Juniors Division title here Wednesday evening.
Athens, playing as the visiting inning, took the early lead on an RBI single by Wes Alderfer, and a wild pitch that plated Anthony Johnson to make it 2-0.
ST-Breon answered with three runs in the home half of the first inning, then takes on two runs in the third and fifth innings to extend its lead to 7-2.
Athens closed the gap to 7-4 on a two-RBI double by Alderfer in the top of the sixth inning, but ST-Breon put the game away with three runs in the home half of the sixth.
Alderfer doubled and singled, and had three RBI, while Cooper Hugo and Anthony Johnson each had two hits and two runs scored to pace Athens' seven-hit attack, and Evan Westerfield added a single.
ST-Breon topped Athens, 11-1, in the winner's bracket finals Saturday.
