Valley Sports ReportTROY — Jersey Shore jumped out to an early lead on its way to an 8-0 win over Athens here Wednesday in consolation bracket action in the Section III Majors Division softball playoffs.
Jersey Shore plated three runs in the home half of the first inning, added one run in the second, and tacked on four more in the third inning to take an 8-0 lead.
Athens was limited to two hits in the contest — a two-out fourth-inning single by Harper Liechty and a lead off single by Olivia Wilcox in the sixth inning.
Bryn Bishop had the best turn in the pitcher's circle, allowing four hits and striking out five in two scoreless innings of relief.
