Valley Sports ReportATHENS — For the first time in more than 20 years, the Athens Area School District Athletics Hall of Fame will induct a new class in the spring of 2026.
The Hall of Fame will honor the school district’s top athletes, teams, coaches and contributors – and will include those from Athens, SRU and Athens Area High Schools.
Athletes and teams are eligible for the Hall of Fame five years after they last competed for Athens. Coaches and contributors are eligible immediately.
The Hall of Fame committee, which consists of alumni, local residents and school administrators, will be accepting nominations from the public for the Class of 2026.
Those who nominate a team or individual should provide as much information as possible.
A nomination form can be found on the Athens Area School District website or a hard copy will be available upon request.
A Hall of Fame banquet will be held in May.
