TIOGA JUNCTION, Pa. — Athens and Sayre each placed third in their respective pools, and were eliminated in the quarterfinals of bracket play here Saturday at the annual Williamson Tournament.
Athens finished 5-3 in Pool A, while Sayre was 4-4 in Pool B.
The Wildcats swept NEB by scores of 25-13 and 25-22, and Northern Potter by scores of 25-17 and 25-19, and split with Williamson, dropping the first set 25-21, and winning the second set, 25-23.
Troy, winner of Pool A, swept Athens 25-17 and 25-20.
The Redskins swept Galeton, and split with Canton and Cowanesque Valley. Pool winner Coudersport recorded a sweep of Sayre.
In the quarterfinals, Athens dropped a 25-21 decision to Pool B runner-up Canton, and Sayre dropped a 25-14 decision to Pool A runner-up Williamson.
Troy topped Williamson in the championship match.
