Valley Sports ReportVESTAL — Vestal had five different players score in the first half on its way to an 8-0 win over Tioga here Wednesday afternoon in Section IV field hockey action.
Vestal improves to 4-0 and has outscored its opponents 29-0 this season.
Sophomore Ella Sholett and Helene Ryan scored 41 seconds apart to give the Golden Bears a 2-0 lead with 10:58 remaining in the first quarter.
Junior Allison Policare scored about 3 1/2 minutes later to extend the Vestal lead to 3-0.
Junior Maggie Costello and senior Isabel Goncalves scored goals in a 33-second span in the second quarter to makie it 5-0, which is where it stood at the half.
Ryan scored twice in the third quarter to complete her hat trick, and senior Alley Crowley completed the scoring with 8:05 remaining in the game.
Vestal had a 18-1 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 6-3 edge in penalty corners.
Vangie Decker recorded 10 saves in the cage for the Tigers.
Tioga, now 0-4, travels to Marathon Friday.
