STAC GIRLS TENNIS: WAVERLY WINS FIRST MATCHES IN 5-2 LOSS TO WINDSOR (2025-09-10)

WINDSOR — After being shutout in the program's first-ever match, senior Ava Witman and junior Sofia Storelli got the Waverly tennis team on the board with wins in a 5-2 STAC girls tennis loss to Windsor here Wednesday afternoon.

“We are building the foundation of a successful team in real time," said tennis coach Ron Chamberlain. "I could not be happier with every one of their matches. Each player showed real determination today.”

Witman dropped the first set in her match, 6-3, but but stormed back to win the second set, 6-3. Witman won the tie-breaker, 10-5.

Storelli was dominant in a straight-set 6-2, 6-2 win.

In first singles action, Aubrey Everson dropped a 6-3, 6-4 decision.

Sophia Nierstedt dropped her match, 6-0 and 6-0.

The Wolverines also forfeited the three doubles matches.

Waverly returns to action Monday at Binghamton.
