WYALUSING — Athens sophomore Alissa Vough and junior Jacob Shores each notched first-place finishes here Tuesday afternoon in an NTL cross country tri-meet.
The Lady Wildcats swept wins from Wyalusing and Cowanesque Valley, while the Athens boys dropped a 1-point decision to Wyalusing, and topped CV.
GIRLS
Athens 25, Wyalusing 32
Athens 23, Cowanesque Valley 37
Vough and senior Ava Hughes placed first and fifth, respectively, to win decisions over Wyalusing and Cowanesque Valley.
Vough clocked in at 21:44, and Hughes had a time of 24:58.
Sophomore Marlene Roelle finished seventh in a time of 25:15, while senior Karolin Roelle was ninth in 25:42, sophomore Tatyana Nasser was 11th in 27:19, and freshman Adaline Burnett was 12th in 28:46.
Junior Grace Ellsworth (29:59), freshman Katyayini Kinthala (30:36), and freshman Mya Allen (31:03) finished 14th through 16th, respectively, for the Wildcats.
BOYS
Wyalusing 28, Athens 29
Athens 21, Cowanesque Valley 35
Shores and junior Matt Rossettie finished first and third, respectively, but Wyalusing pulled out a 33-34 win in the tri-meet.
Shores clocked in at 18:32, while Rossetti had a time of 18:57.
Senior Parker Wanck placed sixth in a time of 21:07, while junior Corbin Smith was 11th in 21:42, and senior Andrew DeForest was 13th in 22:41.
Freshman Micah Simwale finished 17th for the Wildcats in a time of 25:09, and junior Kamden Knapp was 19th in 26:50.
JUNIOR HIGH
Boys
Rowan Morales won the junior high boys race in a time of 11:13, and Nico Rossettie was fourth in 12:39.
Girls
Evelyn Owen placed sixth in a time of 14:02 to lead the junior Wildcats, while Sadie Wanck (14:25), Paisley Smith (14:29), Allie Lyon (14:30), and Ameilia Archibald (15:01) placed sixth through 10th, respectively.
