PITTSFORD, N.Y. — Athens grad Mason Lister threw a 4-yard TD pass in overtime to lift St. John Fisher to a 31-24 win over arch-rival Brockport State in the annual "Courage Bowl" rivalry game here Saturday afternoon.

With Brockport up 21-14, Lister directed an 11-play scoring drive that culminated with a 4-yard TD pass on the first play of the fourth quarter to tie the game at 21-21.

The teams traded field goals in the final two minutes, and the game went to overtime tied at 24-24.

In the overtime session, Lister piloted a 10-play scoring drive, capped by a 4-yard TD pass to Ethan Curtis. The PAT kick made it 31-24.

Three plays later, Brockport's QB coughed up the ball, and Elmira grad Tyler Marks pounced on the loose ball to seal the win for the Cardinals.

Lister completed 16 of 24 passes for 222 yards, and two TDs. He also ran for a team-high 37 yards on 13 carries.

Lister is now 2-1 at the half of the Cardinals.

For the season, Lister has completed 59.5 percent of his passes (47 of 79) for 641 yards, four TDs, and no interceptions. He's also run 49 times for 180 yards, and one TD.

St. John Fisher is 4-1 — its best start to a season since 2016, and is 2-0 in Empire 8 Conference play for first time since 2016.

St. John Fisher returns to action Saturday at Hartiwck College.
