CANDOR — Four different Tioga players scored goals, including three in the second half, in a come-from-behind, 4-2, win over SVEC here Monday afternoon in IAC girls soccer at Candor High School.
"Tonight, we played like a team," said Tioga coach Emily Potter, a former Candor soccer standout.
"We collectively created offense giving many chances to different girls — four different goal scorers is huge," noted Potter.
"I couldn’t ask for a better collective win at my old stopping grounds.
"I am very proud of these girls for their effort and drive to succeed," she added.
Freshman Natalie Kemp, off a feed from freshman Grace Howey, scored with 8:20 left in the first half to tie the game at 1-1, which is where it stood at the halftime intermission.
Sophomore standout Allie Lyon, off a feed from Juno Meradyth Stouffer, gave the Eagles a 2-1 lead with a goal about nine minutes into the second half.
SVEC maintained the one-goal lead for nearly eight minutes until Howey, off an assist from senior Izzy Carter, scored to tie the game at 2-2.
About four minutes later, junior Serenity Relyea, off a feed from Kemp, gave the Tigers a 3-2 lead with 19:54 remaining in the contest.
Tioga added an insurance goal with 3:14 left in the game on a goal by senior Sophia Haney, off a corner kick from Howey.
Junior Marcy Moniz recorded four saves in net for the Tigers.
Tioga, now 7-4, hosts Dryden Wednesday afternoon.
