STAC BOYS SOCCER: STATE-RANKED CHENANGO FORKS PUTS WAVERLY AWAY IN SECOND HALF (2025-10-07)

BINGHAMTON — State-ranked Chenango Forks scored three goals in the second half to blow open a one-goal game on its way to a 4-0 win over Waverly here Tuesday night in STAC Central Division boys soccer action.

The Blue Devils, ranked 17th in Class B, scored late in the first half, and led 1-0 at the intermission.

"We held them at 0-0 for 32 minutes of constant action," said Waverly coach Jon Rankin. "They found their way late into the first half off of a free kick that found its way over the defense to their striker.

"The boys did a phenomenal job tonight, I couldn’t be more proud of them," he noted. "Their composure, physicality and work ethic were through the roof. It was a total team effort tonight. Nobody was watching, everyone was working. 

"The score line doesn’t reflect it but this was a massive step in the right direction. 

"Forks is a very tough team," added Rankin. "They’re a very well-rounded program. I’m proud of the fact we ran with them tonight."

Forks scored its second goal off a penalty kick early in the second half, and added two more goals midway through the half.

Chenango Forks had a 26-1 advantage in shots on goal.

Junior Aiden Doherty had 17 saves in net for the Wolverines.

Waverly, now 3-11, hosts Chenango Valley Thursday night.
