TROY — Sayre took the second set to even the match, but Troy settled in and won the next two games convincingly in a 3-1 win here Tuesday night in NTL volleyball action.
After dropping the first set, 25-14, the Redskins answered with a 25-18 win in the second set, but the Trojans prevailed with back-to-back wins of 25-10 to close out the match.
With the win, Troy improves to 12-2 overall, and 6-1 in Large School play — just one-half game behind Wellsboro 6-0.
Junior Yhale Doon led Sayre with 11 setter assists and eight digs, while senior Rylee Lantz had two service aces, eight kills, one block, and three digs, and sophomore Reghan McGaughey had three kills and 12 digs.
Freshman Lilliana Schack had two kills and six digs for the Redskins, while junior Alex Schack had two aces and five digs, sophomore Grace Russo recorded 11 digs, and junior Azalea McClenny and sophomore Emily Strickland added one block apiece.
Sayre, now 7-5 overall, returns to action Thursday at Towanda.
