NEWARK VALLEY — Junior Chase Hine and sophomore Hayden Montanye recorded top-25 finishes here Friday afternoon, while senior Talon Wood paced Tioga at the Bob Greene Cross Country Invitational.
Chase finished 19th on the 3.1-mile course in a time of 18:17.5, and Montanye was 25th in a time of 18:36.5.
Junior Jayden Washington was 68th for the Wolverines in a time of 20:32.8, while freshman Colten Santalucia was 74th in 20:53.4, and sophomore Garret Akins was 10th in 24:00.9.
Wood was 32nd to lead Tioga in a time of 18:54, and freshman Logan Bensley was 113th in a time of 24:56.
Waverly finished 10th in the team standings with 254 placement points. Elk Lake won the team title with 38 points, including the top three finishers, while Horseheads was second with 91 points. Athens placed sixth with 181 points.
GIRLS
Tioga freshman Reese Mills finished 33rd in a time of 23:37 to lead the small Valley contingent, while Waverly's Taylor Sinsabaugh was 45th in 24:23, and Miah Correll was 53rd in 25:09.
JUNIOR HIGH
BOYS
Mason Rink led Tioga in the junior high boys race, finishing 59th in a time of 11:58.1, and Andrew Mills was 74th in 13:13.2 on the 1.5-mile course.
Waverly's Logan Huff was 84th in a time of 13:38
GIRLS
Waverly's Pepper Mosier finished 40th in a time of 13:06 in the junior high girls race.
Jaida Philhower led Tioga with a 64th-place finish in a time of 15:14.7, while Emma Swartz was 80th in 19:05.7, and Noel Williams was 84th in 20:06.3.
