ONEONTA — Athens grad Mason Lister, a junior on the St. John Fisher football team, accounted for five TDs in the best game of his young career, leading the Cardinals to a 35-21 win over Hartwick College here Saturday.
Lister was also named the Empire 8 "Player of the Week."
Lister completed 16 of 21 passes for a career-high 356 yards and a career-best four TDs. He also ran for one TD.
Lister's 1-yard TD run capped an 11-play drive and tied the game at 7-7 late in the first quarter.
On the next possession, Camden Chance turned a short pass from Lister in an 80-yard TD to make it 14-7.
Lister threw a pair of TD passes in the third quarter to give the Cardinals a 28-14 lead.
Lister and Chance hooked up again on a 40-yard TD pass in the fourth quarter.
For the season, Lister has completed 62 percent (62 of 100) of his passes for 997 yards, eight TDs and no interceptions. He also has 195 rushing yards and two TDs.
St. John Fisher improves to 5-1 for the first time since 2016, and is also 3-0 for the first time since '16.
The Cardinals host powerhouse Cortland Oct. 25.
