CANDOR — SVEC scored a pair of second-half goals to pull out a 2-0 win over Tioga here Monday morning in IAC boys soccer action.

Despite the loss, Tioga coach Donnie Van Dusen was pleased with his team's performance.

"Honestly, it's the best 80 minutes we've played yet.

"I am so proud of the guys coming into this contest playing 80 minutes with zero reserves," noted Van Duse. "We had some good opportunities toward the end, but just couldn't connect.

"I truly am proud of the team today," added VanDusen. "They really stuck together and played their hearts out for 80 minutes."

SVEC coach Jason Banks was happy Tioga added them to the schedule late, and was pleased to get the win.

“We really appreciated Tioga agreeing to pick up this additional game to help our players continue to develop," said SVEC coach Jason Banks.

“Coming off the weekend, it took our guys some time to find their rhythm and we missed a few opportunities in the first half.”

“The second half we were able to be calmer on the ball and took advantage of some key passes that led to goals," added Banks.

After a scoreless first half, Xavier Beach and Nate Morse scored goals for the Eagles in the second half. Both goals were off assists from Kyle Jantz.

SVEC had a 13-1 advantage in shots on goal, and a 5-0 edge in corner kicks.

David Van Dusen had 11 saves in net for Tioga, and Sirron Irvin recorded one for the Eagles.

Tioga returns to action Wednesday at Waverly in its season finale.

"I'm hoping we can build off of the good runs and passes and communication today, and put another good game together on Wednesday," said Van Dusen.
