WAVERLY — Four of the five sets were decided by three points or less, and Seton Catholic pulled out three of them to post a 3-2 win over Waverly here Monday night in STAC Central Division volleyball action.
The Saints won the first set 26-24, but the Wolverines answered with a 25-19 win in the second set.
Seton Catholic gained the advantage with a 25-23 win in the third set, but Waverly once again evened the match with a 25-23 win in the fourth set.
The Saints prevailed, 15-12, in the decisive fifth set to notch their first win of the season.
Brilynn Bellis led Waverly with 22 digs, 14 kills, and two service aces, while Ava Heath had 17 digs, 11 aces, and five kills, Mya Chamberlain recorded 34 setter assists and seven digs, and Addison Foster registered 11 kills.
Waverly, now 4-11, wraps up the regular season Wednesday when it hosts Chenango Valley.
