ATHENS — Athens volleyball hosted Sayre Tuesday in its annual "Pink Out Game," and raised more than $3,000 for the Guthrie Cancer Center.
The event was coordinated by both schools, including Athens coaches Heather Darrow and Cassie Frederick and Sayre coaches Colby Sangrey and Elizabeth Higley.
Funds were raised for the Guthrie Cancer Center in honor of "Nreast Cancer Awareness" month. Multiple local businesses and individuals sponsored the event and a basket raffle was held during the game with baskets donated by parents of both teams.
In total, $3,478.90 was raised for the cause. Guthrie Cancer Center
provides essential screening, diagnostic and treatment services.
