THE VALLEY — State-ranked Waverly will open the Class B football playoffs at home Friday, while state-ranked Tioga will play in the first game of a Class D doubleheader Saturday at Johnson City.
CLASS B PLAYOFFS
The Wolverines (8-1), ranked eighth in the state, will host Norwich (5-4) Friday at 7 p.m. Waverly won the first meet, 30-18, at Memorial Stadium.
In the other semifinal, Maine-Endwell (5-3), ranked 10th in the state, will host Owego (5-3), ranked 18th, Saturday at 1:30 p.m. M-E won the regular-season meeting, 8-6, at Owego.
CLASS D PLAYOFFS
Tioga (8-1), ranked No. 1 in the state, will square off with Deposit-Hancock (7-2), ranked 13th, Saturday at noon at Johnson City High School. The Tigers won the regular-season meeting at D-H, 35-31, on Sept. 13.
In the other semi-final contest, Delhi (7-2), ranked 9th, will face Trumansburg (6-3) at 3 p.m. at JC. The Bulldogs won the regular-season meeting, 30-26, at home on Sept. 12.
