Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY — Postseason volleyball, swimming, cross-country and football takes center stage as the calendar turns to November, and the fall season winds to a close.
There are eight events on this week's docket, including three on Tuesday, but that could have as many as four added depending on Tuesday night's results.
The following are all of the varsity events on the schedule this week:
MONDAY (0)
There are no events on the schedule.
TUESDAY (3)
• Athens opens the PIAA, Class 3A playoffs at home against Berwick.
• Sayre plays its first-ever game in the PIAA playoffs, hosting Mountain View in the opening round of the Class A bracket.
• Tioga hosts Unatego in the quarterfinals of the Section IV, Class C playoffs. If Tioga wins it will advance to semi-final pool play Thursday.
WEDNESDAY (1)
• Waverly swims in the Section IV, Class B preliminaries at Maine-Endwell H.S.
THURSDAY (1)
• Waverly and Tioga will run in the Section IV Cross-Country Championships at Chenango Valley State Park.
FRIDAY (1)
• Waverly hosts Norwich in the semifinals of the Section IV, Class B football playoffs.
SATURDAY (2)
• Tioga squares off with Deposit-Hancock in the Class D football semifinals at Johnson City High School.
• Waverly will compete in the Section IV, Class B Championships at Maine-Endwell H.S.
