LANSING — Tioga dropped its first two sets here Thursday at the Section IV, Class C semi-final pool play, but bounced back to win four in a row to advance to Saturday's Class C title match.

For the Tigers, Saturday will mark their 17th trip to a Section IV championship match in the last 18 seasons (not counting the lost 2020 Covid season), with nine of the first 16 resulting in Section IV titles.

Fourth-seeded Tioga opened the night with losses to top-seeded Lansing by scores of 25-20 and 25-8.

Tioga fell behind, 7-2, to start the opening set of pool play, but behind strong play at the net by senior Audi Zorn and sophomore Vida Rossi closed the gap to two points, at 18-16, but the Bobcats finished strong for the win.

Lansing jumped out to a 14-3 lead in the second set and cruised to the win.

Senior Lilly Mezzatesta dominated play in Tioga's second match of the night, with the Tigers topping Trumansburg, 25-17 and 25-17.

Tioga needed just one win in its final match, but swept Walton by scores of 25-15 and 25-19.

Lansing finished pool play at 6-0, sweeping Trumansburg by scores of 25-17 and 25-17, and Walton by scores of 25-12 and 25-15.
