THE VALLEY — Sayre volleyball looks to keep its season alive in the PIAA, Class A quarterfinals, while Tioga opens the Section IV, Class D football playoffs, and the Waverly girls swim team looks to win a Class B title and send a host of girls to States.

PIAA Playoffs
Class A Quarterfinals
Sayre (12-9) vs. Linville Hill Christian School (21-0), 1 p.m. @ Shamokin H.S.: The Redskins are coming off a come-from-behind five-set win over District 2 champion Mountain View Tuesday, while the Warriors topped District 6 runner-up Conemaugh Valley in four sets, including wins of 28-26 in the first two sets.
The winner advances to the semifinals to face the winner of the match between District 11 champ Tri-Valley (22-1) and District 1 champion Faith Christian (18-6) on Tuesday.
FOOTBALL
Tioga (8-1) vs. Deposit-Hancock, noon @ Johnson City H.S.: The Tigers are coming off a 36-7 win over SVEC last week, while the Eagles topped Sidney, 44-30.
These two teams met in Week 1, and Tioga pulled out a 35-31 win.
GIRLS SWIMMING
Section IV, Class B Championships, 2 p.m. @ M-E: Waverly is the top seed in all three relays, as well as in three individual events.
Senior Mira Kittle is the top seed in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke, and sophomore Lauryn Welles is the top seed in the 100-yard freestyle.
Freshman Natalie Steck is the second seed in the 100-yard breaststroke, while senior Liz Robinson is the third seed in the 100-yard butterfly, and freshman Megan Atanasoff is the fourth seed in the fly.
