Valley Sports ReportPITTSFORD, N.Y. — Athens grad Mason Lister, a junior on the St. John Fisher football team, was named a third-team selection on the Empire 8 All-Conference team Thursday by a vote of the league's coaches.
On the season, Lister completed 62.7 percent (94 of 150) of his passes for 1,309 yards, 10 TDs, and five interceptions. He has also rushed for 313 yards and two TDs on 87 carries.
As a starter, Lister led the team to a 4-3 record.
In his first start, Lister led a fourth-quarter scoring drive to give the Cardinals a 21-20 lead with 6:01 remaining in the game, but Rochester answered with a scoring drive for a 28-21 win.
Lister led St. John Fisher to wins in the next three game, completing 45 of 70 passes for 775 yards and six TDs, while rushing for two more scores.
After losses to powerhouse Cortland (8-2) and Utica (8-2), Lister had the Cardinals ahead of Morrisville, 14-7, with a pair of TD passes when he was knocked out of the game in the third quarter. SJF went on to win 21-7.
Lister did not play in St. John Fisher's final two games.
The Cardinals finished up the regular season at 7-3 — their best mark since 2016, and will host RPI Saturday in the ECAC Clayton Chapman Bowl.
