WAVERLY — Seventh-grader Mason Phillips, and sophomore Jaxson Porter each went 3-0 to win their brackets here Saturday at the Friends of Section IV Junior Varsity Wrestling Tournament.
Sophomre Devon Swank and freshman Jax Myers each went 2-1 to finish second in their bracket.,
Phillips was 3-0 to win the 110-pound bracket.
Phillips opened with a 15-0 technical fall win over Windsor's Ashton Palmer, then pinned Vestal's Ihsan Shah in 47 seconds.
He wrapped up his day with a pin of Horseheads' Chance Redner in 2:00.
Porter was 3-0 to win the 285-pound C bracket.
Porter opened with a pin of Windsor's Evan Colgan in 2:20, and followed it up with a pin of Horseheads' Jack Bower in 2:38.
Porter wrapped up his perfect day with a pin of Whitney Point's Linkin Farrow in 54 seconds.
Swank finished second in the 285-pound bracket with a 2-1 record.
Swank pinned Schuyler's John Corey in 1:32, then decked Vestal's Aiden Fortin in 14 seconds.
In a match-up of 2-0 wrestlers, Swank dropped a 16-1 technical fall to Binghamton-Seton Catholic's Hassan Green in 3:51.
Myers was 1-1 to finish second in the 165-pound B bracket.
Myers pinned BGAH's Bradley Bolster in 45 seconds, then lost via fall to BGAH's Mason Buchanan in 2:36.
Sophomore Liam Arnold was 1-2 to finish third I the 215-pound bracket.
Arnold's lone win came in his first bout, a pin of Johnson City's Aden Koedatich in 26 seconds.
Sophomore Joey Sandfort was 0-2 in the 118-pound C pool, while sophomore Murtagh McCarthy was 0-2 in the 175-pound C bracket, and freshman Dom Musto was 0-3 in the 285-pound B bracket.
