WELLSBORO — Wellsboro built a 13-point halftime lead on its way to a 42-27 win over Sayre here Friday night in NTL girls basketball action.
Kate Bryant canned a trio of 3-pointers in the first half, and Lily Wagner scored eight points to lead the Hornets to a 26-13 lead the halftime break.
The Redskins played the Hornets nearly even in the second half, but couldn't cut into the lead.
Senior Rylee Lantz led Sayre with 13 points, 14 rebounds, five steals, and seven blocked shots,
Sophomore McKenna Parrish added five points, three rebounds and three steals, and freshman Sofia Kline chipped in with four points and three steals.
Sophomore Brooklyn Roberts grabbed six boards for the Redskins, while freshman Hailey Sanderson had four rebounds, sophomore Emily Strickland added three boards, and senior Olivia Thompson recorded three steals.
Wagner led Wellsboro with 14 points, and Bryant added 11.
Sayre, now 0-4, returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Wyalusing.
