STAC JV GIRLS BASKETBALL: WAVERLY RIDES STRONG DEFENSE IN 44-21 WIN OVER SUS. VALLEY (2025-12-19)

CONKLIN, N.Y. — Waverly's defense dominated in a 44-21 win over Susquehanna Valley here Wednesday evening in STAC junior varsity girls basketball action.

Kezlyn DeKay scored seven points, including a 3-pointer, in the first quarter to spark a 12-5 run in the opening eight minutes.

DeKay scored four more points in the second quarter, and Paige Bubniak canned a 3-pointer in a 9-3 spurt that pushed the Wolverine lead to 21-8 at the half.

Mya Wheeler scored four points in the third quarter, and Raygane Oakes nailed a 3-pointer in an 11-4 run that extended the lead to 32-12 heading into the final eight minutes.

Oakes scored five more points in the fourth quarter, and Taylin Gonzales drained a 3-pointer in a 12-9 spurt to close out the game.

DeKay led Waverly with 13 points, four steals and two blocked shots, while Gonzales had 10 points, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals, and Oakes had eight points, four steals and one blocked shot.

Addison Foster added four points, a team-high eight rebounds and two blocked shots, while Wheeler had four points, four rebounds, five steals and two assists, and Dorsey hauled down six rebounds.

Waverly returns to action Saturday at home against Windsor. Game time is noon.
