KINGSLEY, Pa. — Mountain View raced out to an 11-point lead in the first quarter, then held Sayre at bay here Tuesday in a 49-40 non-league junior varsity boys basketball win.
The Eagles knocked down a trio of 3-pointers in the first quarter and led 25-14 after the first eight minutes.
Four points apiece by Dom Mezzatesta, Brayden Northrup, and Logan Zingeser in the first quarter kept the Redskins in the game.
Northrup tossed in eight points in the second quarter, but Mountain View maintained its 10-point lead and led 35-24 at the half.
Sayre used a 9-7 advantage in the third quarter to trim the deficit to nine points, at 42-33, heading into the fourth quarter, but couldn't close the gap any further in the final eight minutes.
Northrup led Sayre with 18 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and three steals, while Mezzatesta had six points and nine boards, and Tyrese Gamby scored six points and had three steals.
Quinn Chandler had four points and four boards for the Redskins, and Zingeser added four points and two assists.
Sayre returns to action Monday at Sullivan County.
