VALLEY SPORTS REPORT: WAVERLY'S ROBINSON, TIOGA'S DUNCANSON, TOOMEY NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION 'ATHLETES OF THE WEEK' (2026-01-12)

THE VALLEY — Waverly senior Cooper Robinson, and Tioga senior Jayden Duncanson and junior Amelia Toomey all won titles at the Southern Tier Memorial. They are the Valley Sports Report / Bishop Brothers Construction "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending Jan. 10.

WAVERLY'S ROBINSON, TIOGA'S DUNCANSON NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION BOYS "ATHLETES OF THE WEEK"

Robinson was 6-0 on the week with five technical falls, including a 5-0 mark to win the 157-pound title at the Southern Tier Memorial.

At the Memorial, Robinson had three tech falls in a row to start his run, outscoring his opponents 54-5.

In the semifinals, Robinson led returning state place-winner Austin Fesinger of West Genesee, 13-3. when an injury stopped the match with 26 seconds remaining.

Robinson avenged a loss in last year's finals with a 17-1 technical fall of Bellefonte's Ezra Swisher, who has committed to wrestle at the University of Pennsylvania next year.

Duncanson was 7-0 on the week, including a 6-0 mark to win the 138-pound title at the Southern Tier Memorial.

At the Memorial, Duncanson had four falls, including three in the first period. 

He won via 21-1 technical fall over Milton's Ty Locke in the semifinals, then pinned Penns Valley's Tripp Watson in 3:10 in the finals.

TIOGA'S TOOMEY NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION GIRLS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
Toomey was 7-0 on the week, including three first-period falls and two technical falls.

On Wednesday, Toomey registered a 36-second fall and an 11-0 tech fall wrestling up at 144 pounds in a double-dual against Waverly and Horseheads.

Toomey posted a 5-0 mark to win the 138-pound title at the Southern Tier Memorial.

Toomey beat New York State's top-ranked 138-pounder Alexa Doxey of Niagara-Wheatfield, 12-8, in the semifinals of the Memorial, then beat Owego's RaeAnn Croft, ranked 10th in the state, 10-2 in the finals.
