POPLAR RIDGE — Tioga was within 10 points at the half, but Southern Cayuga blew the game open in the third quarter the way to a 47-24 win here Friday night in IAC Small School girls basketball crossover action.
The Chiefs led 12-6 after the first quarter, with Tioga's points coming off 3-pointers by Kate Kithcart and Kaylah Nelson.
Southern Cayuga used a 13-9 advantage in the second quarter to stretch their lead to 25-15 at the halftime break.
The Chiefs outscored the Tigers, 16-7, in the third quarter to take a 41-22 lead into the final eight minutes.
Kithcart led Tioga with six points and two steals, while Lydiah Decker had five points and five rebounds, Irie Lynch had four points and three boards, and Kaylene Sindoni added four points.
Tioga returns to action Friday when it hosts Marathon.
