ATHENS — Athens turned in a stellar performance on both ends of the floor in a 47-14 rout of Wellsboro here Friday night in NTL Large School Division girls basketball action.
Junior McKenna Jarvis scored six points in the first quarter, and sophomore Alissa Vough added five points, including an old-fashioned three-point play, to help the Wildcats to a 15-7 lead after the opening eight minutes.
Jarvis poured in 14 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, in the second quarter, and sophomore Allie Kemp added five points, including a 3-pointer, to fuel a 19-2 blitz that put Athens ahead 34-9 at the halftime break.
Athens outscored Wellsboro, 9-2, in the third quarter to take a 43-11 lead into the final eight minutes.
Jarvis scored 26 points, hauled down seven rebounds, and registered eight steals to lead the Wildcats, while Kemp had eight points and three rebounds, and freshman Alexis Mayo had five points and seven steals.
Vough had five points and three rebounds in the win, while junior Brielle Mayo dished out six assists, and junior Megan Morgan grabbed three boards.
Athens, now 6-7, hosts Canton Tuesday.
JV: Athens 47, Wellsboro 16: Alexis Mayo led Athens with 12 points, while Eden Fedorchak, Bilikula Wennie, and Stella Unger each scored nine.
