NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: TROY ROLLS UP BIG WIN OVER SAYRE (2026-01-21)

Valley Sports Report
TROY — The 2025-26 season has been a bit of an up-and-down season for Troy. Chalk Wednesday night's 86-21 NTL boys basketball win over Sayre here at the Commons Building into the "up" column.

"It was a real tough game tonight," said Sayre coach Paul Blythe. "Troy is so well-coached and such a well-oiled machine over there.

"Trey Teribury is arguably the best player on both sides of the court in the NTL," he noted. "They have size, athleticism, and skill set 1 through 5 that we just couldn’t match up with tonight.

"We were able to take some positives from the night, but hats off to them they are a great squad and have a lot of potential come district play," added Blyther.

The Trojans, now 8-6, knocked down five 3-pointers in the first quarter, and led 23-8 after the opening eight minutes.

Trey Teribury and Shane Martin scored nine points apiece to fuel a 30-7 blitz in second quarter to take a 53-15 lead into the halftime intermission.

Troy went to its bench for the majority of the second half and outscored the Redskins 33-6.

Junior Rommel Suba led Sayre with eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers in the first quarter, while junior Declan Barry added six points and six rebounds, sophomore Riley Johnson added a 3-pointer, five rebounds, and one blocked shot, and senior Carter Bleiler and sophomore Tyrese Gamby each grabbed three rebounds.

Trey Teribury and Martin led Troy with 17 points apiece, Aidan Lawrence had 11 points, and Josiah Pesesky added 10 points.

Sayre, now 3-12, hosts NP-Mansfield Friday.
