VALLEY SPORTS REPORT: TIOGA'S TOOMEY, ATHENS' PETTITT NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION 'ATHLETES OF THE WEEK' (2026-01-27)

THE VALLEY — Tioga junior Amelia Toomey picked up a pair of tournament wins, and Athens junior Brayden Pettitt was a quad-winner in all three of the Wildcats' meets. They are the VSR / Bishop Brothers Construction "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending Jan. 24.

TIOGA'S TOOMEY NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION GIRLS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
Toomey posted a 7-0 record on the week to earn titles at the rugged Windsor Tournament and the IAC.

Toomey, the top seed at 138 pounds, was 4-0 at Windsor with one technical fall and three pins, including a pin of Homer's Emma Spanbauer in 4:02.

Toomey was 3-0 with three technical falls to win the 152-pound pool.

Toomey scored 10-0 technical fall wins on Edison's Eden Berthel and Sydney Gibbs, and Newark Valley's Isabella King.

ATHENS' PETTITT NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION BOYS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"

Pettitt won four events in all three of Athens' meets, including a pair double-duals, to lead the Wildcats to wins over Selinsgrove, Jersey Shore, Central Columbia, Wellsboro and Lewisburg.

Pettitt won the 200-yard IM in each meet, logging times of 2:01.77, 2:01.18, and 2:02.13. He also won the 100-yard breaststroke in times of 1:01.86, 1:00.37, and 1:00.58.

Pettitt also swam on two first-place relays in all three meets.
