CANDOR — Tioga played its best half of the season, but Candor pulled away in the second half for a 60-44 win here Tuesday night in IAC South Small School Division girls basketball action.
Irie Lynch scored 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, in the first quarter, and Lydiah Decker added seven points, including one trey, to help the Tigers to a 19-17 lead after the opening stanza.
Lynch canned another 3-pointer and scored five points in the second quarter, but Candor used a 13-11 advantage to tie the game at 30-30 at the halftime intermission.
The Coyotes took control in the third quarter with an 18-9 run to take a 49-39 lead into the final eight minutes, then closed out the game with a 12-5 spurt.
Lynch led Tioga with a career-high 22 points, while Decker scored nine points, and Kaylah Nelson added five points, five rebounds, and two steals.
Kaylynne Miller chipped in with four points, while Kate Kithcart hauled down five rebounds, and Adrienne Delmage grabbed four boards.
Megan Williamson led Candor with a career-high 27 points, and Emmi Makie added 26 points.
Tioga hosts Newfield Thursday, and O-M Friday.
