STAC BOWLING: WAVERLY GIRLS SWEEP CV; BOYS WIN CLOSELY-CONTESTED 4-1 DECISION (2026-01-29)

BINGHAMTON — Waverly pulled out a close win in the first game, then rolled to a sweep of Chenango Valley in STAC girls bowling action, while senior Derek Johnson led the Wolverine boys to a 4-1 win here Thursday afternoon at Ripic Lanes.

BOYS
Waverly 4, Chenango Valley 1

The Wolverines pulled out a tightly-contested 4-1 win over Chenango Valley, winning the two-point total-pinfall count by 43 pins.

Waverly won the first game 1,016-981, but CV answered with a 1,000-954 win in the second game.

The Wolverines closed out the match with a 1,029-975 win in the third game to capture the total-pinfall points by a count of 2,999 to 2,956.

Johnson banged out a 662 series on games of 245, 192, and 225, while Maison Apgar rolled a 613 on games of 185, 237, and 191, and Griff Walter shot a 602 on games of 172, 198, and 232.

Colten Santalucia added a 585 series, including games of 226 and 222, for the Wolverines, and Tristan Campbell tacked on a 537 series.

Cody Langevin led CV with a 687 series, and Nate Adams added a 635.

GIRLS 
Waverly 5, Chenango Valley 0

The Wolverines won the first game 741-724, then rolled to wins of 884-675 and 841-812 for a total-pinfall win of 2,466 to 2,211.

Rylie Witman led Waverly with a 584 series, while Karis Hayes shot a 559, and Ariel Houseknecht had a 551.

Aby Apgar added a 395 series, and Emlie Houseknecht shot games of 174 and 155.

Waverly returns to action Monday when it hosts Chenango Forks.

JV BOYS
Waverly 5, Chenango Valley 0

Logan Huff led the Waverly JV boys to a 5-0 win over Chenango Valley with a 523 series, while Camden Leary had a 522 series, and Quentin Goose added a 506.
